Quality Engineer in an organization where high quality is integral to the design process and critical to product success. Although I am capable of doing management tasks, I am much happier contributing directly to automated test suites and finding bugs.
Staff Hardware engineer. Pre- and post-silicon diagnostics development.
Member technical staff. Diagnostics development. Developed all diagnostics for the Alteon 708, including simulation, bringup, and manufacturing. Supported ASIC debug under simulation and emulation. Performed HW/SW co-simulation to run Alteon's WebOS before ASIC tapeout. Supported software environment under emulation. Extensive bringup experience. Primary engineering support of manufacturing burn-in process. Hired and trained the diagnostic team for the follow-on product.
Senior Software Quality Engineer. QE lead on a diverse set of products: an incremental linker on Solaris, a beta management tool on UNIX, and a change request management system on NT. Defined product quality goals, wrote test plans and specifications, wrote and executed tests, maintained test harnesses, tracked project quality status, and did final product QA. Worked closely with development, documentation, marketing, and support. Filled in project management, tools, and CM as needed.
Solaris Security Development, Staff Engineer 12/93 - 8/94. Developed test suite for a system entry control product for Solaris. Responsible for all testing phases: functional, stress, performance, alpha, beta.
UTS Platform Test, Staff Engineer 6/93-12/93. Led testing of the tape subsystem and proprietary tape daemon for Amdahl's port of UNIX System V, rel 4.2, on both SPARC and IBM 390 platforms.
Architectural Diagnostics, Manager 1/92-6/93. Diagnostics project manager for four 5995M processor revisions. Worked closely with hardware development managers to assure on-time delivery of all test packages.
IBM Compatibility Diagnostics, Technical Lead 6/88-1/92. Drove effort to add testability features to, and wrote Amdahl's compatibility specification for the Integrated Cryptographic Facility. Developed a highly accurate planning method. Led a three man-year effort for ESA/390 testing which finished within one week of the original schedule. Led vector co-processor testing, and reduced average time to produce tests by 25%.
IBM Compatibility Diagnostics 6/86-6/88. Developed methods to minimize maintenance of a 1500 program test suite. Refined, documented, and drove the department's specification and code review process.
